Comprehensive Physical Exams and Special Testing
Annual exams are recommended to evaluate your pet for changes due to aging that may require intervention to prolong healthy life. Routine parasite testing is important to diagnose intestinal parasites that may be present, some of which are zoonotic (transferable to people).
Canine Vaccinations and Diagnostics
Vaccinations
We recommend all dogs - regardless of their living circumstances - be vaccinated against the following:
Rabies, Distemper/Parvo, Bordatella, and Leptospirosis
In addition, the following vaccines may be appropriate for your dog based on immediate environment and lifestyle:
Lyme Disease is a bacterial disease spread through tick bites, which are common occurrences in Florida. If your pet spends time outdoors and in wooded areas, consider a Lyme Disease vaccine to protect this dangerous infection, which can cause lameness and even death.
Canine Influenza is a contagious disease that's easily spread among dogs. It can cause coughing, runny nose, and malaise. The good news is that it's easily preventable trough a simple vaccine.
Intestinal Parasite Screening
Fecal testing is important to diagnose intestinal parasites that may be present, some of which are zoonotic (transferable to people).
Heartworm Disease Screening
Heartworm disease is a potentially fatal disease that is transmitted by mosquitoes. Though deadly, heartworm disease is highly preventable through a variety of safe, easy and inexpensive options. In fact, when medication is administered properly on a timely schedule, heartworm infection can be completely prevented. An annual heartworm test is required before heartworm preventives can be dispensed.
Additional information about Heartworm Disease and Prevention can be found on the American Heartworm Society web page.

Here's what you need to know about the Microchip Process:
- The Datamars microchip is a tiny chip, the size of a grain of rice, which is permanently implanted in your pet to ensure that it can be identified quickly.
- Each chip has a unique identification number that links your pet to you so that you can get your family member home faster if he or she were to ever go missing.
- When a vet, shelter or humane society finds a lost or missing pet, they use a scanner to read your pet's chip.
- Once the Lost Pet Recovery Service is contacted with the number from the chip, they can in turn contact you and reunite you with your lost family member.
